Everyone will have the opportunity to experience all our core activities - sailing, kayaking and hill walking - and there may be additional activities offered depending on which week you attend. Everything we do is graded to the individual's ability and we want you to experience and enjoy it. You may find the activities challenging but most new things are. Christian Adventure Holidays are very much about everyone taking part and supporting each other to try new experiences.

Our holidays are adventure holidays, so it really helps if you are reasonably fit. A typical day on the mountain could involve 6 hours of walking on rough paths. Off road biking is biking on rough tracks up and down hills. Both kayaking and canoeing involve paddling your own boat along Derwentwater. We have lots of fun on the way but these activities can be hard work!

No, you don't! We have a good supply of equipment for you to borrow but if you do have walking boots, waterproofs or a wetsuit then bring them along. You can see the full kit list on the Get Ready page.

When booking your holiday a deposit is required, with the balance of the payment due at the end of May 2025.

If booking after 1st April 2025 the full payment is required to secure the booking.

All payments are made through SagePay, which accepts major credit and debit cards.

Christian Adventure Holidays (CAH) places safety as a top priority.

Adventurous activities involve some risks for the people taking part and the CAH team aim to keep these risks as low as possible. The chances of serious injury are very low, but minor injuries (cuts bruises, bumps and - less likely - minor fractures) are also a possible result of taking part in adventurous activities. The CAH team will minimise the dangers by:

  • Carrying out a careful risk assessment of the risks before commencing the activity.
  • Using experienced instructors with the appropriate qualifications for the activity.
  • Giving clear safety instructions to everyone participating.
  • Ensuring that the equipment and protective clothing is well maintained and suitable for the activity and environment.
  • Asking the participants to supply information on medical or other conditions that they may have.
  • Ensuring good hygiene conditions are maintained.

CAH expects participants to co-operate with the team, and to ensure the safety of all participants by following instructions and answering questions honestly about any medical conditions, or information relating to health and safety. As with similar adventure activity organisations, we feel that we should make you aware that CAH reserves the right to refuse any application or to ask a young person to leave the holiday if their behaviour is incompatible with the general enjoyment, safety and well-being of others. In such cases the parent or guardian will be informed and collection arrangements must be made at their own expense. No refunds will be given.

Payment In the event of cancellation of the holiday.

The initial payment is non-refundable. The final payment is also non-refundable. In the event of a late cancellation that is made close to the holiday, we will try to find another youngster to fill the place. If successful we may, at the administrator’s discretion, give a partial refund of the final payment. You may consider taking out holiday insurance to cover possible cancellations.

Insurance

Christian Adventure Holidays is fully covered for public liability. You are not, however, insured against cancellation, personal accident, or injury as a result of an accident, or loss of possessions. We therefore suggest those who feel that additional insurance is necessary should make their own arrangements.

Mobile Phones

Your child may bring a mobile phone to a Holiday Week but they will need to register this on arrival.  Access to the phone will be restricted for safety reasons as well to allow your child to take a full part in the holiday.

Photos Taken by Campers

Youngsters have great fun taking pictures and videos of themselves and their friends whilst on holiday. These could be displayed on a social network site. As we are not able to control what photos are taken on the holiday, we can take no responsibility for them, or their subsequent use.

You will need to make your own arrangements for arriving at CAH. Most people are dropped off by car or, if travelling with others, in a minibus.

The nearest train station is at Penrith. There are buses from Penrith or it is possible to pre-book a taxi.  Please contact your week Director if you need more information or view the travel infomation page
