What We Do

We organise adventure holidays in the Lake District for young people aged between 12 and 17 years old. The holidays are based at Bassenfell Manor and run through July and August.

The focus of these holiday weeks is to encourage fun, friendship and faith. They are packed with lots of great outdoor activities such as sailing, kayaking, cycling and mountain walking; as well as quality time to explore a relationship with God, the Christian life and all that it offers.

All our Directors, Leaders and staff are DBS checked and hold the appropriate qualifications for their role. We are inspected regularly by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS) which allows us to provide the range of activities offered during each adventure holiday. You will find us listed on the Health & Safety Executive website as holders of licence L119949.

Over the summer we organise four weeks of Adventure Holidays which are staffed by a different team of volunteers. Each week has its own Director and, in addition to the core activities, will offer a range of extra activities which vary depending on the skills and qualifications of that week's staff. These activities may include open canoeing, ghyll scrambling, rock climbing, raft building, off road biking and an overnight wild camp. A young person may attend only one week each summer. You can find out more about our Activities and what a typical day looks like by going to our Activities Page.

All our Leaders are active Christians and are as enthusiastic in that part of their lives as they are when they are out on the water or up in the hills.

CAH is a registered charity.
